Mary A. Hill, M.S., SNS, is Executive Director of Food Services for Jackson Public School District in Jackson, MS for 35 years. She has been a spokesperson and presenter on issues concerning nutrition, child nutrition programs (CNP), obesity, USDA regulations and other areas as they relate to CNP for more than 30 years in this country and abroad. Mary is passionate about the work she does and the lives that are affected by healthy eating and physical fitness. She is active in many professional and volunteer organizations and has served in numerous leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels. She served as President of the School National Association from 2007-2008 with a membership of approximately 55,000 child nutrition professionals across this country. She was selected to serve on the committee with the Institute of Medicine, which was contracted by USDA to revise the National Breakfast and Lunch Meal Patterns in 2008. Those changes led the way to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Ms. Hill also hosted a visit from First Lady Michelle Obama in March 2010 to promote her “Let’s Move” Campaign.
